Work Package two

Identifying a setting and study population for our future research programme

As part of this work package, we will:

(1) Conduct a systematic review of existing literature to assess effectiveness of DAIs for mental health and neurodevelopmental conditions (all age groups) and explore common barriers and facilitators to DAI delivery and research conduct;

(2) Summarise any existing evidence on the cost-effectiveness of delivering DAIs within the top priority mental health population and prepare future research on cost-effectiveness in this area by developing data collection instruments;

(3) Conduct a national survey of DAI providers to improve our understanding of current practice and scope for future DAI provision;

(4) Synthesise findings and conduct a workshop with key partner groups to create a short-list of priority settings/populations and DAI combination for future research;

(5) Design a large programme of research to develop and test the clinical and cost-effectiveness of a DAI to improve mental health outcomes in a specified study population.

How to get involved?

Do you have a mental health or neurodevelopmental condition or are caring for/supporting adults or children who do? Are you a DAI provider, or a human-animal interaction/animal-assisted intervention researcher? If so, and if you are interested in getting involved, please get in touch!
